Briarwood Bags began through my lifelong love of horses.  I have ridden since I was a child, and the smell of leather, reminds me of all things, horse.  So, I started hand-stitching bags, using vintage tack with the bags I made.  For those non-horsey folks, “tack”, is the word used for equipment used for horses, and horseback riding.

I soon found that hand-stitching was not kind to my hands.  So, in order to keep doing the things I love, I adapted.  A good lesson for life.  I started sewing on an industrial sewing machine that could work with leather.   I primarily sell by commission now.
